| Aki basho 2005: 15th day (senshûraku) |
Much aggressiveness on behalf of Kokkai in its combat against Iwakiyama. What a damage! one would have liked to earlier see that in the tournament. It finishes with a very bad card for its row (5-10). Hakuhô was very in difficulty on several occasions against Miyabiyama but it is left there well with a shitatedashinage which envoit its adversary with ground. A victory without bur by yorikiri of Kotooshu against Chiyotaikai led the Bulgarian one in position of waiting; the combat following Asashoryu - Tochiazuma could result either in giving him the yusho, or to oblige it at a kettei-SEN vis-a-vis with the yokozuna for the final victory. Tochiazuma will miss completely its tachi-have and will be found unfortunately with ground almost without fighting. An easy victory for the yokozuna! Kettei-SEN was to take place later a few minutes with 2 possibilities: one 14th yusho for the Mongolian yokozuna or the first yusho the history of the sumo for a fighter Européen.Le Bulgare will not do better than Tochiazuma, and after one tachi-have very average will find itself on the defensive in edge of the dohyo; the yokozuna will not have whereas to complete the work by pushing it outside. This last gains its 14th yusho its career and its 6th consecutively. During its the last 90 combat it will have lost only 7 times.
It is done! Asashoryû gained its 14th tournament! |

 | Aki basho 2005: 14th day (jûyokka-me) |
Kisenosato: here is a young person who will make speak about him! It quite simply has just beaten that which carried out this aki basho 2005 since the beginning. It preserves mathematically, all its chances to gain the tournament since tomorrow it will meet Wakatoba, a fighter completely with his range within sight of its current form. But for that, it would also be necessary to count on defeats of the two leaders: Asashoryû which beat Chiyotaikai today and which will meet the other ozeki Tochiazuma, tomorrow, and Kotooshu which enchaine two defeats of sharpened and which will meet Chiyotaikai for the last day of the basho. Chiyotaikai beaten by the yokozuna today, is not likely any more any to gain this basho with 4 defeats. But we could have very well a perfect equality between 3 fighters: Asashoryû, Kotooshu and Kisenosato. The response with a beautiful suspense to be envisaged tomorrow!
New defeat for Bulgarian Kotooshu, depity. The point: makekoshi: Tochinonada, Ushiomaru, Jumonji, Tokitsuumi, Ishide, Tochisakae, Toyozakura, Tokitenku, Dejima, Tosanoumi, Kakizoe, Tamaasuka, Kyokushuzan, Kokkai, Miyabiyama, Aminishiki, Takamisakari, Futenô. kachikoshi: Tochinohana, Takanowaka, Shimotori, Wakatoba, Kotonowaka, Roho, Ama, Tamanoshima, Kyokutenhô, Hakuhô, Kotomitsuki, Kisenosato, Kotooshu, Chiyotaikai, Asashoryû.

 | Aki basho 2005: 13th day (jûsannichi-me) |
One day with bounces since the shock very awaited Asashoryû - Kotooshu, held all its promises. During this combat, Kotooshu had a serious occasion to gain when its adversary turned the back to him, but it did not know to benefit from it and the very sharp yokozuna knew to go back in position and finally to gain by kubineri. The tournament is thus completely open with several possible winners: Bulgarian Kotooshu (12-1) evidemment which preserves all the same a small advance, the yokozuna Asashoryû (11-2) which knows that it can still gain, Chiyotaikai (10-3) which was given in race thanks to the defeat of kotooshu and finally the young hope Kisenosato (10-3) which did not completely benefit from the defeat of the Bulgarian one. Indeed, it is him also inclined today vis-a-vis in Kyokutenhô.
The point: makekoshi: Tokitsuumi, Jumonji, Tochinonada, Toyozakura, Asasekiryu, Tochisakae, Dejima, Tamaasuka, Kokkai, Kakizoe, Miyabiyama, Kyokushuzan, Futenô, Takamisakari. kachikoshi: Kotonowaka, Tamanoshima, Kisenosato, Kyokutenhô, Hakuhô, Kotomitsuki, Chiyotaikai, Tochiazuma, Kotooshu, Asashoryû.

 | Aki basho 2005: 12th day (jûninichi-me) |
The positions remain the same ones at the end of this 12th day with a Kotooshu leader who gained his combat against Hokutoriki and his prosecutors who made in the same way. The yokozuna after its defeat of the day before gained good manners its combat against Kotoshogiku (7-5) by shitatenage; it thus maintains the pressure and is always well placed for the yusho, the more so as it will have to meet Bulgarian Kotooshu tomorrow. The meeting between the two ozeki saw the victory of Chiyotaikai which remains with the contact with 9-3. Kisenosato remains with two defeats only after 12 days of competition.
12-0: Kotooshu 10-2: Asashoryû, Kisenosato 9-3: Chiyotaikai It is from now on between these four fighters that all will be played during the 3 last journées.Tochiazuma being now except race with 4 defeats.

 | Aki basho 2005: 11th day (jûichinichi-me) |
One 11th day which will have made more than to hold its promises since the yokozuna déja beaten by Futeno as of the 1st day of the tournament is again beaten by Aminishiki. It is found now with 2 lengths of delay of Bulgarian Kotooshu which, continues its impressive series to him: 11th victory of today sharp by beating the ozeki Tohiazuma (8-3). By once again beating a fighter of this level, Kotooshu positions doubtless among the four best current fighters. It is now very well placed to gain this aki basho even if the 4 last days will be decisive. The Kisenosato young person recorded his 2nd defeat, vis-a-vis in Tamanoshima (7-4) and finds himself with 2 lengths of kotooshu for a possible final victory. Both ozeki Tochiazuma and chiyotaikai are a little bit further, but will play certainly the spoilsports during last days. They are besides always possible winners in this aki basho 2005.

 | Aki basho 2005: 10th day (tôka-me) |
During this 10th day, three fighters are make-koshi (Tamaasuka, Tokitsuumi and Futeno). They thus join Kokkai and Toyozakura. Conversely, Tochiazuma (8-2) is the only fighter to join Kotooshu, Kisenosato and Asashoryû among the kachi-koshi. One day without surprised or all the leaders gained their combat. At the head we thus have: 10-0: Kotooshu 9-1: Asashoryu - Kisenosato 8-2: Tochiazuma
Kotooshu: "I am content but there remain still 1/3 to make. I can lose 5 times very well and to finish at 10-5 "it declared while laughing.

 | Aki basho 2005: 9th day (kokonoka-me) |
In the combat between Kotonowaka (37 years) and Kisenosato (19 years), it is the promptness which carried it. Very fast Kisenosato with tachi-have and very volunteer beats Kotonowaka, much heavier by yorikiri and is thus 2nd in this tournament after Kotooshu to obtain the kachi-koshi (8-1). Three false starts in the meeting between Kotoshogiku and Roho, but the 4th attempt was the maid and it is finally Kotoshogiku which carried it by oshidashi. Kakizoe (3-6) beats Kokkai (1-8) by oshidashi. This last is thus makekoshi as of the 9th day of the tournament what is probably its worse service since its arrival in division makuuchi. Hakuhô (6-3) carries it against Dejima (3-6) by beautiful a uwatenage. After having rather badly begun this aki basho, the Mongolian fighter took again well and records his 5th victory of at a stretch. A good tachi-have of Kotomitsuki (6-3) and Miyabiyama (3-6), but it is the first which carries it by tsukiotoshi. A very awaited combat was undoubtedly that oppasant Kotooshu with Iwakiyama. Whereas the Bulgarian one was in light imbalance, it carries out a very beautiful uwatenage which envoit Iwakiyama on the ground. It still proves if it were necessary its great qualities for fighter and is always unconquered in this aki basho 2005. The combat of Takamisakari always are very preceded and today against the ozeki Chiyotaikai, 9 kensho (premiums) were given to the winner. Takamisakari always boosted in its preparation and which remained on a very beautiful victory yesterday against Tochiazuma wished certainly to make the master key of two and to offer two ozeki in two days, unfortunately on the retreat as of tachi-have it could not resister with the tsuppari of the ozeki. It is inclined rather quickly by oshidashi. The other ozeki, Tochiazuma beats Futeno which will have offered a beautiful resistance all the same and is always well placed in this tournament with 7 victories for 2 defeats. 19 kensho were offered in the last combat of the day opposing the yokozuna Mongolian Asashoryu to another Kyokushuzan Mongol. It is known, a competition exists indeed between the two men and their last confrontations always turned to the advantage of the yokozuna. This time still, no suspense and this last easily carries it by yorikiri. It remains with a length of Bulgarian Kotooshu with 8 victories in 9 days.

 | Aki basho 2005: 8th day (yôka-me or nakabi) |
It is done! the new one promoted sekiwake Kotooshû is kachikoshi as of the 8th day of this aki basho. Before him, only the yokozuna Taihô and Chiyonofuji had makes a success of this exploit! And one can say that it did it good manners while beating by yorikiri today Kyokushuzan (see video below). Takamisakari carried out a very good combat by beating the ozeki Tochiazuma (6-2) by sukuinage whereas it was in quite bad posture. Takamisakari still proves to us that it is never acknowledged beaten in competition. Today it offered a ozeki. Cheer! (video below). The georgien Kokkai (1-7) is always unrecognizable in this tournament and still loses, this time against Mongolian Hakuhô (5-3). The Futeno young person who had filled with wonder us at the beginning of tournament, beating as of the 1st day the yokozuna Asashoryû, does not have as much success and loses once again. He now counts 6 defeats in 8 days and approaches the makekoshi inéxorablement. With less than it is not begun again from here the end of the tournament. Finally Asashoryû showed its excellent level by supporting the enormous load of Iwakiyama and by beating this last by kubinage. It seemed very satisfied with its victory (video below).

 | Aki basho 2005 - 7th day (nanoka-me) |
The defeat of the day will have been that of the ozeki Chiyotaikai (4-3) vis-a-vis to the Mongol Hakuhô (4-3); both maintaining with four victories and three defeats. Kokkai (1-6) records finally its first victory of the tournament, by fixed price of its Wakanosato adversary. Bulgarian Kotooshu continues its perfect course by beating this time Dejima (2-5); it is on the way to obtain its kachikoshi as of the 8th day of this aki basho, which would be true a performance for a new whole sekiwake. The yokozuna Asashoryû (6-1) and the ozeki Tochiazuma (6-1) remain placed very well for a possible final victory.

 | Aki bashô 2005: 6th day (muika-me) |
No change at the head of the classification with almost all the principal victorious applicants with the title. Seul Kotomitsuki ((4-2) took a false step vis-a-vis in Iwakiyama (4-2). Kotooshu remains unconquered since the beginning of the basho contrary to Kokkai which did not gain a combat yet.

 | Aki bashô 2005: 5th day (itsuka-me) |
In the combat between Takanowaka and Ishide, the gyoji will see the victory of the first but the shinpan joins together in mono-II decided to make rejouer the match. The two fighters will then deliver a savage and very long fight which will see this time the victory of Ishide. A very good combat or promptness carried! Kokkai (0-5) is in plain diverts with now 5 defeats of at a stretch. Toyozakura and Tokitenku are besides at the same point. Bulgarian Kotooshu (5-0) continues its beautiful series by gaining its combat against Miyabiyama by hatakikomi. A technique which becomes one of its specialities. With regard to the ozeki and the yokozuna, Chiyotaikai counts 2 defeats whereas Tochiazuma and Asashoryû are always with equality with only one defeat for four victories.

 | Aki basho 2005: 4th day (yokka-me) |
One day without much surprise, with the withdrawal of wounded Kaiô but of the logical victories of the principal applicants to the title. Kotooshu (4-0) gains a beautiful victory vis-a-vis in very sharp Kakizoe (1-3) and is without any doubt a serious applicant with the yusho. It makes a perfect course until now. Kokkai on the other hand records one 4th defeat of at a stretch; it is beaten by the ozeki Chiyotaikai (2-2). A shock awaited today was that of two Mongolian, Asashoryû and Hakuhô. A very disputed combat which saw the victory of the yokozuna Asashoryû by yoritaoshi. The film below.

 | Aki bashô 2005: 3rd day (mikka-me) |
Wakanosato (3-0) allocates one 3rd easy victory by yorikiri against Kakizoe (1-2). Kotooshu (3-0) was with the drift during all its combat, moving back several meters on will tawara and it is mono-II which gave him the victory thus reversing the decision of the gyoji which had seen it leaving before combative Kyokutenho (2-1). Kokkai (0-3) was to try to mark its first point in this combat and Tochiazuma (1-1) wanted to make forget its defeat of the day before; it is finally the latter which carried it by hatakikomi after an exchange of tsuppari or none of the two combatants tried to seize the mawashi adversary. Kokkai begins this tournament really badly and counts déja 3 defeats. The ozeki Kaio (0-3) although supported by crowd, showed itself with the image of the other days, in small form. In retreat as of tachi-have, it was very easily beaten by Hakuhô which had in heart to take its first point of the tournament. Wounded and with déja three defeats, it would be surprising that Kaiô continues this tournament until the end... Futeno (1-2) badly party at the beginning of combat against Chiyotaikai, succeeds in catching up with the blow and the two fighters remained then motionless in the center of the dohyo. It is nevertheless the ozeki which carried it by beautiful a uwatenage. Chiyotaikai (1-2) mark thus finally its first point. The last combat of the day was a logical victory of the yokozuna Asashoryû (2-1) much sharper than its adversary Miyabiyama (1-2).

 | Aki basho 2005: 2nd day (futsuka-me) |
Aki basho 2005 which delivers surprises tous.les.jours to us since like yesterday, among 4 higher graded, three lost. Asashoryû was caught up with of its memorable defeat of the day before by beating Kokkai by tsukiotoshi, but the three Ozeki fell. With regard to Kaiô, it is not very astonishing because it had left the day before the dohyo while limping and thus was presented today decreased vis-a-vis at Dejima which has still things to show. Kotomitsuki (1-1) makes a success of a very good combat while beating in-extremis the ozeki Tochiazuma (1-1) by yorikiri. One will also note the victory of Bulgarian Kotooshu (2-0) by abisetaoshi over Mongolian Hakuhô (0-2) who records his 2nd defeat of sharp and that of Futeno (2-0), the ladykiller of yokozuna, on Kakizoe (1-1). Young Mongolian Ama (2-0) also records one 2nd victory by beating Hakurozan (1-1) by yorikiri.

 | Aki basho 2005: 1st day (shonichi) |
Beautiful sunny day and hot season for this beginning of tournament in Tokyo. We are four members of the site to find us like agreed in front of the entry of Kokugikan. The tickets were bought a long time in advance (thank you maruchan) because we made a point of having the maid places for mitrailler our preferred fighters. Are thus present maruchan, capray, elinas and I (infosumo) with our matos photographs and our memory boards ready to heat. Are also present, and well heats them also, our targets of the day: rikishi! On the spot rather early, we have the leisure to see arriving Kotooshu, Asasekiryu, Kakizoe and well of others. The photographs will be soon visible on the site. But let us return to the combat themselves bus of surprised and of the sport, there was of it. The largest surprise of the day occurred at the time of the last combat of the day: Asashoryu counters Futeno. A combat of anthology with a crowd is delirious about it which will turn to the advantage of the young person Futeno (yoritaoshi); Rain of zabuton and hurrah of crowd!

Asashôryû on the way towards a sixth title of at a stretch.Asashôryû is always only the yokozuna and should only beat the record held by Akebono of the number of successive tournaments (11) as a yokozuna. To also note rotation within the ôzeki: Kaiô is found in first place, thanks to its good 10-5 obtained two months ago. Tochiazuma thus yields its place to him while Chiyotaikai, kadoban for this Aki basho, occupies the second rank western side. An innovation among the sekiwake: the presence, for the first time of its career on this level, of Bulgarian Kotoôshû which had missed of one anything the yûshô two months ago. Western side, one finds old accustomed: the fighter of Naruto beya Wakanosato. Here it is placed again well in its search of the rank of ôzeki. Futenô makes its entry within the sanyaku, continuing tournament in tournament its progression. It will be interesting besides to see how it manages this new statute. In the east, one finds Kotomitsuki which loses only one half-row with its 7-8 of July. To note the fall 1 of them west of the Hakuhô Mongol will maegashira following his withdrawal at the time of Nagoya basho. At the end of the makuuchi, one notes the returns of Shimotori, Tokitsuumi and Wakatoba. Kotoôshû (with Dr..) pose in company of Sadogatake oyakata with new the banzuke which sees the Bulgarian one taking seat with the row of sekiwake for the first time of its career." |

Kotoôshû misses last walk.Suspense will have held to the last combat. This Nagoya basho was impassioning from beginning to end, but once again, the final victory returns to the yokozuna Asashôryû. It gains its thirteenth yûshô. Kotoôshû yielded in the last straight line. The komusubi faced old the sekiwake Wakanosato and seemed nervous before going up on the dohyô. Wakanosato put it on reculoir it as of tachi-have and, thing surprising, Kotoôshû lost its means completely, not attacking. Old the sekiwake did not have great a deal to make to put at ground its adversary: this one had even lost the direction of balance. Definitively, the pressure was to be too important to manage for the Bulgarian one. Consequently there remained to him nothing any more but one last hope: a false step of Asashôryû against Tochiazuma. And it had to believe in it, the komusubi, with a kettei-SEN, so much the ôzeki obstructed the yokozuna. As often at the time of their confrontations, Asashôryû and Tochiazuma very mobile on the dohyô, were clutched one with the other. The Mongol tried several pushes which, each time, were seen cancelled by the resistance of the ôzeki. But the yokozuna likes that one resists to him, because in these cases that multiplies by ten its desire for gaining. Still more when the yûshô is with the end. The last push was the maid. Over yoritaoshi, Asashôryû gained a new title, the fourth in 2005 out of four tournaments. Asashôryû tightens the fist of rage after having beaten Tochiazuma. This Nagoya basho was more complicated than one awaited it for the yokozuna. But it gains a new title all the same." |

The yokozuna Asashôryû will dispute the final victory in a "remote" duel with the komusubi Kotoôshû. And which knows? There will be perhaps the right to a kettei-SEN between them tomorrow. Today, Asashôryû was opposed to one of these five fighters in competition for the title: the ôzeki Kaiô. This one had timidly started the tournament in the first third before going up in power. one expected to see a very disputed combat, but the yokozuna choked the attempts of the ôzeki. Kaiô could almost nothing try after a good tachi-have. The Mongol concludes the debates by a yorikiri, retaining his adversary by the belt so that it does not fall in the public. one saw certain fighters who did not have the right to the same regards during the tournament. Kotoôshû faced, as for him, another applicant with the title, the pet of the Takamisakari public. There still, the combat did not last a long time but it was rich in bounces. After tachi-have, the Bulgarian one started a push which the fighter of Azumazeki beya countered, clutching an arm of Kotoôshû. It then tried to carry out a kotenage and, the one moment space, the komusubi was found in danger. But Kotoôshû showed its speed once again to be left a complex situation. It then placed a uwatenage on Takamisakari, projettant it with ground before falling in its turn. The pet of the public saw his last hopes of title flying away definitively. Asashôryû does not leave any possibility with Kaiô to operate." |

Five fighters for a yûshô.
Suspense hard in this Nagoya basho, and that made a long time that one had not had as many fighters to claim to gain the title! Who of Asashôryû, Kaiô, Kotoôshû, Wakanosato and Takamisakari will gain the setting? In any case, the situation could be elutriated tomorrow, with two engagements putting in opposition four fighters of this group of five. But first of all, let us reconsider this thirteenth day. The yokozuna faced the sekiwake Kotomitsuki. This one was to gain its combat to push back the expiry of the make-koshi. Asashôryû quickly came to end from Kotomitsuki, it even swept it. Almost a formality, whereas one hoped to see the sekiwake putting at evil the Mongol. With a card of 5-8, Kotomitsuki will have to battle until the end to hope to remain among the sanyaku. Bulgarian Kotoôshû, another fighter at 10-2 at the beginning of this day, it was opposed to Hokutoriki. And there too, the victory easy for was highest graded of both. Kotoôshû made only one true push on its adversary and this one left to move back without being able to retain itself to fall, only, on the back. Here are which makes it possible the komusubi to remain with height of the yokozuna.

The yokozuna faced Kyokutenhô and this one opposed a beautiful resistance. Asashôryû tried well to make move its adversary, but nothing made there. The public even started to hope for a scenario favorable to Kyokutenhô because, generally, those which resist the yokozuna are always close to the victory. But the yokozuna did not hear it this ear: it placed superb a uwatenage. A hand on the nape of the neck, the other firmly clutched with the mawashi and here is the fighter of Oshima beya which rolled on the dohyô. one of the principal adversaries of Asashôryû for the title, Bulgarian Kotoôshû, was opposed to Géorgien Kokkai. A duel enters the two only fighters to have beaten, for the moment, the yokozuna during this tournament. once again, Kokkai carried out enormous tachi-have which made waver somewhat the large Bulgarian one combining that with a strong push that Kotoôshû succeeds in avoiding. And instead of leaving only, carried by his attack, the fighter of Oitekaze beya managed to be turned over. But the komusubi had followed perfectly, and could easily conclude the combat while leaving on yoritaoshi. Lastly, the last fighter who was to 9-2 at the beginning of the day, i.e. Wakanosato, faced the sekiwake Kotomitsuki. This last is back with the wall with its seven defeats. A eighth is prohibited to him if it wishes to preserve its row of sekiwake. And it managed to push back of fort good manners the expiry. It carried out powerful tachi-have, destabilizing Wakanosato, this last attacking immediately not to lose foot as of tachi-have. But Kotomitsuki had energy to resell today, being essential with a yorikiri imparable. Wakanosato thus sees the yûshô moving away a little. With him not to break down so close to the goal, as that so often arrived to him in the past. Kyokutenhô in vain clutches the mawashi yokozuna, it cannot prevent this one from placing an imperial uwatenage." |
